AKA: 'The cast'

Fuchsia Harmon
Business Management Apprentice
PA to Management

01823 210610

AKA:
  • The Sorcerers' Apprentice
Picture

About

Fuchsia joined the team as our Business Administration Apprentice in mid 2024.

Aside from Gus (yet another office dog) Fuchsia brings with her a great deal of American charm and saint like patience.

A true natural in the realms of organisation and coordination we knew that Fuchsia would fit well within our Westcountry office as soon as we met her at interview.  Now, often the first to get to the phone, you will find her efficient, friendly and extraordinarily capable at keeping our management and delivery teams focussed.  Exactly what we hired her for!

Like all of our apprentices to date - we expect great things from Fuchsia - and are fully confident that not only will she grow with the company; we will grow with her...

About

Melissa (Mel) joined the company in 2015 as an apprentice, studying for an Advanced NVQ in Business Administration – and has since become an integral part of the Bondstones team.

Now responsible for the company’s day-to-day and regional financial operations, Mel manages everything from invoicing and payroll to budgets and internal reporting. With nearly a decade of experience and ongoing AAT training, she plays a vital role in keeping things running smoothly, applying a practical, detail-focused approach to all things finance.

Outside of work, Mel is a keen plant enthusiast and shares her home workspace with dog Luna – who, when not napping under the desk or obsessing over soft toys, enjoys regular beach walks along the coast.
More
When we interviewed Mel for the post - we thought there must be something up with her CV as her list of extra curricular achievements far outweighed her years... however on getting to know her we soon realised that she is an exceptional young lady.  Prior to joining the company, she achieved a coveted Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award and worked with several charitable organisations even during her A Level studies.

Melissa is a true asset to Bondstones and continues to progress within the company.
Luna the office Dog...
Luna occasionally comes into the office to help Mel with her duties, in which her presence lifts and brightens everyone's day.

About

In a departure from her first degree in History (MA Hons) and a burgeoning career in IT sales (which wasn’t really her ‘cup of tea’) Sarah took the brave decision to make a career shift and undertook her Masters in Rural Estate and Land Management through Harper Adams University, graduating again (!) in early 2018.

With a a baptism of fire style "work experience" placement at Bondstones under her belt (in the summer of 2018), Sarah decided that she had made the right choice and thankfully, decided to accept our offer to stay...

Now benefitting from many years of industry experience with Bondstones, Sarah is well-placed (and sought after!) for advising and working with clients on projects where permitted development and 'alternate routes' through the planning system are available - particularly "Class Q" & "Class R" permitted development options (and ‘fall-back' development); replacement dwellings; and of course advising on matters which may require a bit more ‘in depth’ strategic consideration of primary legislation, statute and judicial precedent...
More
In addition, Sarah benefits from a wide range of farm and rural business diversification expertise, and enjoys guiding projects which focus on tourism and alternative accommodation and 'glamping'.
Outside of work
When not working, Sarah is a dedicated explorer and lover of the outdoors where she can frequently be found out hiking, running, cycling or open-water swimming... She is also a talented classical musician and partial to relaxing with a good book (alongside a wee dram or a well concocted G & T!).
Mango the OFFICE dOG...
Mango is now a full time employee, and assists Sarah as our Chief Wellbeing Officer and part-time Sandwhich Stalker...

Chicken anyone?!

About

Stuart first joined Bondstones in 2014, but parted ways a few years back to follow his own endeavours, he was finally convinced to return to Bondstones (to lead our Westcountry design team) in 2025.  Bringing with him more than 23 years of architectural‑technology know‑how - earned on everything from one‑off bespoke dwellings to multi‑unit housing developments.

Stuart's breadth of experience enables him to spot the pinch‑points that so often appear between concept‑design, regulatory compliance and the hard realities of construction on site (resolving them long before they threaten a client’s budget or timetable).

The measured, well‑organised way that Stuart engages with design projects, owes much to his background as an Infantry Reservist. Planning ahead, keeping calm when conditions change and always having a Plan B are second nature—qualities that contractors, consultants and homeowners alike find refreshingly reassuring...

Stuart specialises in turning an outline brief into clear, coordinated working information: liaising with engineers, suppliers and Building Inspectors so everyone reads from the same page from the earliest opportunity.  Whether he’s detailing a tricky roof junction or balancing energy performance with buildability, his goal is simple: a scheme that performs exactly as intended and feels effortless to live in.

Clients often say they value Stuart’s straight‑talking approach and his knack for explaining technical options without resorting to jargon.  If you are weighing up a barn conversion, a bespoke new build or the technical stages of a larger scheme, Stuart is happy to advise on the most practical—and cost‑effective—route forward.

Thinking about a project of your own (or need help where others are unable to deliver)?  Give Stuart a call, or drop us an email, he is always ready to discuss ideas and next steps.

About

Jen joined the Bondstones team in late 2021, having worked at another local Architectural practice for the previous 5 years. Jen began life in the world of architecture as an Administrative Assistant, however after being involved with several projects, assisting with site surveys and getting more involved in design work, she is developing a keen interest in architecture.

With an eye for detail and extraordinary empathy for client needs, as well as a first class draughtsperson and now designer in her own right - Jen often acts as our in-house client advocate throughout complex design processes.  Having commissioned her own renovation project in the recent past, she regularly contributes to the design process by identifying and implementing great opportunities in space planning (especially in Class Q barn conversions and bespoke domestic renovations - where she excels).
More
In 2020 Jen managed her own own home extension, and began learning AutoCAD on the job!

Jen joined the Bondstones team as a trainee - with a view to developing her skillsets - using the latest 3D design software and new technologies - all whilst adding to her knowledge and forging her own career...
Away from the office
Outside of work, Jen is married to Eugene, has 2 teenage daughters… and after many years of persuasion, Jen and the family recently welcomed their newest addition; Luna – a miniature Labradoodle.

Jen loves exploring the local area and beyond.  She particularly enjoys walking and 'SUP'ing (when it is warm enough!). She also has a passion for baking* and loves a good chat and a glass of wine with friends and family.

Bio

Having Qualified as a Chartered Surveyor with ADAS Rural Property Services in 2005 (later Acorus Rural Property Services) Ian initially took the entrepreneurial plunge into self-employment in 2007.  Having managed to make headway through the 2008 recession (and learning a great deal about small business management along the way), Ian began trading as Bondstones way back in 2012.  Soon after it quickly became apparent that the demand for Bondstones' rural planning and design services (together with Ian's future vision) for was far higher than an individual could manage alone;

In early 2014 he took the decision to grow the practice beyond the "power of one" and incorporated the company with a view to expansion.

Ian is now is well known (and frequently recommended) for his knowledge of rural planning (especially opportunities and loopholes that others miss), his design ideas and empathy for clients - particularly in filtering needs and wants - often in testing circumstances...
More
Ian graduated from Seale Hayne College (Plymouth University) in 2001 having initially studied Estate Management. After a short stint in the Civil Service (MAFF / DEFRA) supervising FMD clean-up in 2001 and advising on Agri-Environment schemes on Exmoor he subsequently became an ADAS consultant - working with several other well known firms prior to first going it alone in back in 2007.

Aside from managing his own business interests, Ian has also worked within MAFF / DEFRA (at an executive level) and, for a time, worked as resident agent to a renowned Sporting Estate in the Home Counties and South Wales.

His experience and skills in rural planning, architectural design and entrepreneurship enable him to provide straight forward - articulate - no-nonsense advice and recommendations (to those that are prepared to listen!)

In 2016 Ian was accepted as a member of the England Design Review Panel - in which he regularly participates at a national level.
Outside of work
When not working, Ian is married (to Rebecca) and has a Daughter (Emily)...

Ian is also the occasional custodian of the office dog; Cookie... That is unless she's in disgrace - in which case she most definitely belongs to Rebecca!
